We live busy lives, in a tempestuous world. Everyday, things happen. Some are within our control, others simply beyond us and too overwhelming even for the strongest and most enabled. It is only natural to seek help and some divine intervention. God’s help is never too far away, but our sinful nature, doubt, pride and ignorance make us want to find our own way out of issues.
Finding peace in the mind and a way out of the chaos and confusion we create ourselves is through prayer and careful study and meditation on the word of God. Psalms 139:1-28, one of my favorite scriptures in the Holy Bible is very categorical and inspiration , wherever and whenever I feel low, de-motivated and discouraged. God has full knowledge of all of situations, and understanding this very fact is a revelation in itself. David stated:
‘O Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.
For there is not a word on my tongue,
But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.
You have hedged me behind and before,
And laid Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
It is high, I cannot attain it. ‘
The heart is very complicated, and only God understands it. No wonder David said later said that may God search our hearts, and abolish anything that is wicked and evil. Indeed, we have many fears, negative feelings and evil imaginations that go through our minds on a daily basis. Anxiety, depression and fear of the unknown cause us many a sleepless nights, terminal diseases and even make us suicidal. No wonder we need to pray ceaselessly and read the word of God to nourish our ‘inner man’ and be filled with divine knowledge. Just understanding the fact that we are unique beings, created with a purpose by God should be enough to make us rise above our problems, take control and dominate to a good ending. Psalms Psalms 139: 13-16 well illustrated this facts, stating:
‘ For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works,
And that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.’
Today, take time to meditate upon God’s love for you, and his unique purpose in your life. He is the source of life, and by the virtue that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, given full days (numbered) to live on this earth, seek his perfect will concerning your life. No one is a mistake. Rise up from fears, shame and ignorance and connect to Him. Every day is a new revelation of his greatness and kindness, as He awaits you to seek and find Him, that it might be well with. You can never hide yourself or anything from Him.
It is us who distance ourselves from God, and suffer from this unknowingly. Don Moen, in his priceless and ageless song, I will Sing, sang:
‘ Lord, You seem so far away
A million miles or more, it feels today
And though I haven’t lost my faith
I must confess right now
That it’s hard for me to pray
But I don’t know what to say
And I don’t know where to start
But as You give the grace With all that is in my heart…
I will sing, yes, I will praise, even in my darkest hour
Through the sorrow and the pain
I will sing, I will praise, lift my hands to honor You
Because Your word is true, I will sing…’
Such a marvelous masterpiece that is deep and insightful to the goodness of God, the true situation around us everyday in life. It invokes the heart of worship in every being seeking God. May God create in you a new heart so that you may worship him, and be a vessel for His glory, to live shining on the hill of praise as a living testimony. With a new heart, knowledge and confidence in the Lord, even mountains will melt like wax in awe at the very sight of you. God will be happy and glad of you wherever you, bestowing favor and grace upon your life and your generation. May this be your portion today.
