Ivory Coast international soccer legend Didier Drogba finally hung his boots at age 40. A serial winner with a sharp smell for goal and leader on and off the pitch, Drogba is remembered and revered by many, especially in the EPL where he created history with Chelsea under the Special One, Jose Mourinho.
In 2004, Mou signed him from Marseille for Ksh. 3,166,207,32 to move to Chelsea, and the rest bus history. He won 4 EPL titles, 4 FA Cups and 2 League Cups, 2 EPL Golden Boot, 1 EUFA Champions League where he scored the winning penalty. His exploits at the international level, and influence never went unnoticed as he stood out to lead his country Ivory Coast (The Elephants) on international duties with compatriots Yaya,Kolo Toure, Kalou, Eboue, Toite and others.
Drogba, in an exclusive interview with BBC, stated that he always wanted to give the best to Jose Mourinho, to who he owes alot in his stellar career. He said:
“He changed my life, he changed the story of my family. He told that if you want to be the best, you have to come and play with the best teams in the world and one of the best managers in the world… no, the best manager in the world. Everyone said the 24m pounds was alot of money. People doubted. When I left, I think the way people reacted, I think I covered the investment.”
