“The purpose of life is to live it, taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”~Eleanor Roosevelt
Having waited for hours for means to commute back home from work, I finally got a space and grudgingly boarded the bus home. The crowds, confusion and noise can drown even the most cheerful of hearts. The 8 hour shift majority have toiled through had taken its toll, and all we thought about was supper, bed and back to the wheel. ‘Hicked’ fares do not help either especially at such a moment when the month is tight and most of us are stretched. But there, something woke mere from slumber and I found myself typing away on my iPad my next step of action. It all came so suddenly, having found purpose. I saw the idea alive, I could feel and oooh my it needed to be worked on! What a refreshing experience, I loved it most of all things I achieved today. There it is: Working on a Tangible Purpose in Life.
Making of a Man
Connecting to purpose, is perhaps the biggest miss in majority of humanity. One man who inspires and challenges me on character, personality, authority and purpose is Rev.T.D Jakes. I followed his story keenly and I realized for him to be whom he is is, he has gone through a process of fire. He initially had personality and disability issues, but he overcame, and in pursuing his purpose is now over 30 years in ministry is considered a distinguished tele-evangelist, with numerous awards, recognition worldwide and many publications and videos on his sermons.
In one of the videos vividly remember ‘You gotta run for your destiny. It is not stalling time… it is running time. Run…..run….run! …If you pursue what is in front of you, you gonna leave what is behind you..!’
I believe we can all borrow from his story, life and works. He has touched many lives and generations will live to adhere to his teachings and impact, as a man and leader. This to me is the ideal example of greatness in pursuing, finding and using purpose to impact lives of others.
Living it, loving it!
Finding the motivation within to push aside excuses and focusing on our dreams and seeing the ideas birth to life is to me the greatest joy of all.Waking up each morning fixated on making a step further, steadying the small baby steps and finally walking with the confidence, poise and grace of a pro is the ultimate living. In 2018, find and work on your purpose. Live, then die great, die empty with no ghosts to haunt you in the after life! Make full use of the 24 hours in a day and 365 days in a year.
Ralph Waldo Emerson summed it up well; and as quoted:
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it to make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”~Ralph Waldo Emerson.
